The optimal seat height is between 40 and 50 cm, whereby a height of about 45 cm is often considered ideal. However, the correct height depends heavily on your body size and the table height. It is important that you can comfortably park your legs on the floor at the right angle. There should be 28–30 cm distance between the seat of the chair and the lower edge of the table at least 20 to ideally.
A seat width of approx. 45 cm is often used for comfortable sitting. Some wider models offer even more comfort, which benefits particularly stronger people. So that everyone has enough space, around 60 cm space should be planned per person. Make sure that the table legs do not block chairs.
The optimal seat depth depends on the length of your thighs. There should be a distance of about 3–7 cm between the front edge of the seat and your knees. This is particularly important for smaller people, since too deep seat can be uncomfortable.
If your chairs have armrests, make sure that they fit under the table. The distance between the ground and the lower edge must be large enough so that the armrests are not in the way when the chair is pushed. It is advisable to determine this value in advance.
You should count on about 45 cm wide and 50 cm depth per chair. About 60 cm wide per dining area are ideal for comfort at the table. In addition, there should be enough space behind each chair to be able to comfortably move it backwards. A distance of 90 cm between the edge of the table and wall is recommended.
The right stool dimensions depend on your body size and the height of your dining table. Make sure that the distance between the chair and the table is harmonious, ideally about 28 cm between the seat and table top. In this way, optimal seating comfort is achieved and the dining table can be used ideally.
